  3. Welcome to the Duke Nukem 3D Toolkit CDROM!
  4.  
  5. This CDROM contains more than 300 new maps for Duke Nukem 3d, several
  6. additional programs for use with the game, loads of text information
  7. about the game, and much more!  To play most map files, you can hit enter
  8. on them from within the view/winview programs.  Keep in mind that some of
  9. these maps require additional manual setup, such as moving files to certain
  10. directories and renaming them.  The text files that accompany the maps
  11. usually state when this is necessary.

  19. setup.exe           Windows Installation Program for this CDROM

  21. view.exe            File Browser/Uncompressor for MS-DOS
  22. utils\w16view.exe   File Browser for Windows 3.1.
  23. utils\w32view.exe   File Browser for Windows 95, Windows NT, and Win32s.
  24. utils\setupd.exe    Sets up your system so view.exe can run map files

  33. Quick Start Instructions:
  34.  
  35.   Windows 3.1/NT:
  36.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  37.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  38.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  39.  
  40.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  41.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  42.     Example:
  43.           C:\> D:
  44.           D:\> view
  45.  
  46.   Windows 95:
  47.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  48.     start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  49.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  50.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  51.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  53. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:
  54.  
  55. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  56. to view our disc.
  57.  
  58. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  59. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.
  60.  
  61. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:
  62.  
  63.         1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  64.         2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  65.         3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  66.         4) Click on OK
  67.  
  68. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 1.1 (Windows,
  69. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), Netscape 1.22 (Windows), Netscape 2.0b2,
  70. Mosaic 2.00 (Final Beta), and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  74. WinView and View
  75.  
  76. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  77. for Windows, and the program VIEW for MSDOS on the CDROM.  These programs
  78. allow you to page through index files, browse through directories on the
  79. CD, view documentation and uncompress/install the program(s) you want
  80. onto your hard disk.

  86. This disk contains many shareware programs and images. Shareware can
  87. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  88. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
